ArtsForward - Mentors

Read all about how two of our ArtsForward Cultural Participants are working with their Business Mentors and the benefits they get from the ArtsForward support.

Sound and Music is the national charity for new music. They aim to maximise the opportunities for people to create and enjoy new music.  Their work includes composer and artist development, partnerships with a range of organisations, audience development, touring, information and advice, network building, and education.

Sound and Music are working with a Mentor through ArtsForward to identify opportunities for growth and support business plan development.

“Our ArtsForward business mentor is fantastic – really smart, experienced and he asked many insightful questions that have already got me thinking. We talked a lot both about the business planning we’re just embarking on, and the need for us to increase our earned revenue across a number of areas.” - Susanna Eastburn, Chief Executive of Sound and Music

Improbable  is an arts production company, incorporating improvisation, collaboration and facilitation. One area of their work is facilitating Open Space conversations, this is a framework for meetings and events.

Their ArtsForward Mentor is supporting them to develop the Open Space concept for the corporate sector to create a sustainable income stream for the company.

"Our mentor is a great fit for Improbable. He understands our company and our ethos, but also provides constructive challenge as we move forward. When thinking about growing our corporate income stream, we had felt overwhelmed and daunted. Our mentor has demystified this process" - Rachael Williams, Executive Director of Improbable
